On May 14th, a large liquefied natural gas (LNG) ship named TRADER II, with a length of 279 meters and a width of 42.6 meters, successfully docked at the Guangzhou LNG emergency peak shaving gas source station. Its fully loaded 60000 tons of LNG cargo were slowly unloaded into the storage tanks of the Guangzhou LNG emergency peak shaving gas source station.

 This is also the first LNG ship to arrive at the Guangzhou LNG emergency peak shaving gas source station this year.

The Guangzhou LNG Emergency Peak shaving Gas Source Station is a major livelihood project aimed at implementing national natural gas security requirements, and has been included as a key construction project in the energy plans of Guangdong Province and Guangzhou City for the 13th and 14th Five Year Plans.

 The Nansha area where the station is located is at the mouth of the the Pearl River. So far, 11 LNG ships have been successfully unloaded, with a total unloading volume of 676500 tons, which has greatly guaranteed the gas demand of Guangzhou.

Currently, the maximum daily natural gas supply in Guangzhou is 20 million cubic meters.

 The Guangzhou LNG emergency peak shaving gas source station serves as a backup gas source, relying solely on the natural gas stored in the gas source station to meet the city's 10 day natural gas emergency demand. It can ensure that the gas supply for people's livelihoods is not affected in case of emergencies, maintain normal social operation, stabilize economic order, and provide key support for urban energy security.

As the weather gradually becomes hot, the peak period of summer power generation gas consumption is also approaching. In addition to emergency response, gas source stations will also fully play a peak shaving role, quickly adjusting the gas supply volume in response to the day and night fluctuations of industrial and residential gas consumption, easing the supply pressure of the pipeline network, and maintaining the stability of the supply pipeline network.

After the completion of this LNG unloading operation, the gas storage capacity of the gas source station will reach its peak reserve, serving the emergency peak shaving needs of Guangzhou and surrounding areas, further enhancing the ability of Guangzhou to cope with energy supply risks, and effectively building a protective barrier for urban energy security.
