From May 19th to 23rd, the 29th World Gas Congress (WGC2025) was held at the National Convention Center Phase II, where guests from around the world gathered in Beijing to discuss the future of the gas and energy industry.
On the morning of the 20th, the conference will hold its opening ceremony.
The World Gas Conference (WGC) is one of the three flagship exhibition events under the International Gas Union (IGU), held every three years and known as the "Olympic Congress" of the global gas industry.
The World Gas Congress made its debut in London, UK in 1931 and has been successfully held for 28 sessions to date.
The 29th World Gas Congress is the first to be held in China.
The conference will hold more than 80 traditional activities such as plenary sessions, current affairs debates, industry insights, and technology innovation forums, as well as special events such as financial forums, digital forums, women's forums, and youth forums.
On the afternoon of May 19th, during a media visit, it was learned that there are currently over 2700 registered delegates to the conference, with over 40% of them coming from overseas.
A 50000 square meter exhibition area will also be set up on site, making it the largest in the history of the World Gas Conference. It will attract 300 companies to participate and showcase their cutting-edge products and services.
Viewers can immerse themselves in the latest technological advancements and solutions in the industry.
The reporter saw in the exhibition hall that the "three barrels of oil" of Sinopec, PetroChina, and CNOOC all appeared, showcasing their respective highlights.
In recent years, shale gas exploration and development have continuously achieved new breakthroughs.
China's shale gas has the largest exploitable resources, and in order to extract it, we have six core technologies. "At the Sinopec booth, staff used an integrated exhibition model of shale gas exploration and development to popularize the entire process of shale gas extraction from 4000 meters underground.
The National Pipeline Network Group, which has been established for more than 5 years, made its debut at the World Gas Conference, showcasing its latest achievements in open service trading platform, nationwide natural gas network, LNG receiving station business, energy storage business, intelligent regulation, and technological innovation to the audience.
At present, there are over 100000 kilometers of natural gas pipelines in China, of which nearly 60% are operated by the National Pipeline Network Group, "said Yang An, Deputy General Manager of the Marketing Department of the National Pipeline Network Group. The open service trading platform is built based on the Taobao model, which can make it more convenient for more customers to use pipeline infrastructure.
He said that before the establishment of the National Pipeline Network Group, gas from Xinjiang to Shanghai had to go through up to 7 pipeline companies. Now, through this trading platform, customers can solve the problem by "buying just one ticket".
At the exhibition site, multiple new gas equipment and technologies were unveiled.
At the Beijing Gas Group booth, a robotic dog is agile and can easily perform various actions such as walking, crawling, and lying down. There is also a radar system above its head constantly detecting the surrounding environment.
The on-site person in charge told reporters that this robot dog called "Inspection Elf" is specially tailored for community gas inspection scenarios, which can break through the limitations of traditional gas inspection. Equipped with high-precision sensor devices, it can accurately capture small gas leaks, achieve "early warning" of leakage hazards, and effectively ensure community gas safety.
The 'Inspection Elf' can go deep into the community to stably carry out safety inspection tasks. With its efficient inspection and hazard identification capabilities, it can greatly improve inspection efficiency.
At present, the total length of Beijing Gas Group's pipeline network exceeds 36000 kilometers, with an annual gas supply of over 24 billion cubic meters.
Gas pipelines are an important "lifeline" of cities, and in this exhibition, Beijing Gas Group also brought two new sets of equipment.
Among them, the "self-propelled electromagnetic ultrasonic internal inspection equipment" can accurately identify pipeline weld defects without stopping pipeline transportation;
The "Gas Pipeline Intelligent Welding Equipment" integrates robotic arms and AI algorithms to improve the quality of pipeline welding and safeguard safe gas supply.
Foreign exhibitors also gathered on site.
At the Petronas booth, it was learned that the company supplies nearly 8 million tons of LNG (liquefied natural gas) to China annually.
The relevant person in charge on site also said that this World Gas Conference is held in China, and companies attach great importance to this opportunity and have spent at least a year preparing to participate in the exhibition.
The company's top leader will also be present at the conference, expressing gratitude to domestic customers and looking forward to more opportunities for cooperation.
